Patent depicts multiple modes for touchscreen iMac
Apple could be planning to introduce touchscreens to the iMac by way of a hybrid interface, a recently discovered patent application suggests. The company notes that despite the usefulness of a touch interface, a mouse- and keyboard-based one is still better in some circumstances. To switch between the two, Apple proposes a design in which a computer's display would be upright for the mouse interface, but slanted down and back for touch....

Buffalo intros new DriveStation NAS devices
Buffalo on Monday detailed the upcoming release of updated DriveStation Duo and DriveStation Quad direct attached storage. The latter replaces the DriveStation Quattro range, and a new Axis series of single-drive storage devices was also announced. The DriveStation Duo contains two eSATA 3.0 drives and has a USB 2.0 interface that supports up to 225MBps speeds. Tools are not require to remove or install the quick-swap drives, and they can be set up in either RAID 0 or 1 for either redundant backup or added capacity....

Macs saw unusually high levels of government and business interest during the June quarter, says Needham analyst Charlie Wolf. Looking back at figures, Wolf notes that government Mac sales grew a colossal 200.8 percent year-over-year, over 16 times faster than the rest of the PC market's 12.1 percent. Business sales of Macs grew by 49.8 percent, topping the industry's 15.7 percent....

Study claims 90% of iPad buyers already own Apple gear
Very few iPad buyers so far are new to Apple hardware, Strategy Analytics said in a new study.
